Bruce Metal

Took a trip to my favorite metal scrap yard, Bruce Metal to pick up more materials for my latest art project. I picked up a new radiator and was inspired on another level. Bruce Metal is a wonderland of steel, aluminum and copper. These scrap yards are full of accidental and purposed art so I had to take some photos. The most iconic and obvious artistic sculptures in the yard are the airplane hulls that crown all the structures inside… and then there is this creepy little creature in the back corner of their work shed.

Remediation

Just added this new art installation to my loft over the weekend. I am really excited about it. ”Remediation” represents a call to clean up our natural environment and the soul. Since it was installed it has really come alive in my imagination.  It is a reminder that we need to continually develop environmental remediation ideas and technology that will help us remove pollution and contaminates from our soil and water.  What good is progress if we cannot continue to live life as happy and healthy animals?

The beautiful thing and what I love the most about art is that there are no rules.  No matter what happens in the studio, all the accidents, all the disorder and randomness come together to create something that suddenly has meaning and provokes a thought that did not exist previously.  What you see and feel when you look at any artwork is much more important than the intention of the artist.

Future Fauna

Welcome to the new INDUSTRY GIANT site.

It has been a goal of mine to launch this site for more than three years and I am excited that it has all come together.  My purpose is to simply share my art and ideals you and hopefully we can grow and learn a little bit about ourselves and the world together.

My latest art project is currently in development. This body of work will be called “Future Fauna.” I’m exploring one main question in this project: How do humans, animals and plants evolve and adapt in a world that is increasingly unnatural?

Technology and human invention are developing at an increasingly fast pace.  We all struggle to keep up and survive in a world that is changing so quickly.  As humans living in the city we have encased ourselves in concrete, metal, wires and electronic signals. Often our only connection to other humans is a digital transmission.  Plants and animals seek the cracks in the concrete to survive and find some symbolance of the natural world.

Here is the first progress and first painting in this series that is just starting to take shape.  It’s called “Advanced Animal”  Stay tuned to watch it develop into a final artwork .
